Welcome to the website of LPEC (Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory).
LPEC is a laboratory of University of Maine (Le Mans, France) and of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS,UMR6087). It is also a component of the IRIM2F (CNRS FR 2575), a Research Institute for Molecular Engineering and Functional Materials.
Researches of LPEC belong to the field of Materials Science. The purposes are:
- elaboration of new materials,
- investigation of their physical properties in connexion with their organisation,
- applications,
- development of new techniques and methods for investigations.
The laboratory is mainly involved in hybrid architectures structured at nanometric scale, in bulk or as thin or ultrathin films.
Researches are performed in the framework of four teams working in complementary fields :
- Nanostructuration and Functionalisation,
- Nanomagnetism,
- Photoinduced Dynamics in Condensed Matter,
- Local Ordering.
Equipment and skills of LPEC are mainly developed in X-ray reflectometry and X-ray scattering, optical microscopy and spectrometry (Sarfus technique, micro-Raman, ultrashort and optoacoustics spectrometries), Mössbauer spectrometry, high resolution solid state NMR, EPR and dielectric relaxation. Researches also involve theoretical works and high power computing facilities (parallel computers).
